subject: How To Use Keywords To Rank On Page One Of A Search Engine [print this page]

Anytime that you want your content or ad to rank on page one of a search engine you have to use keywords. What is a keyword? A Keyword is a term used as a "keyword" to retrieve documents in an information system such as a catalog or Search Engine.

Search engines want to give their searchers good content based on their query or what they typed in the "search box". If you provide good content or ads, your information has the possibility of ranking on page one of a search engine. It doesn't matter if you are using Search Engine Optimization "natural" ranking or Pay per Click, keywords are the some of the building blocks you need to rank on page one of a search engine.

So how do you use keywords to rank on page one of a search engine? There is no right way that is the only way, it's really who you ask and since this is really a science that is still being dissected by many of us, we do many trials. Since you are reading this article you may be asking yourself how I ranked on page one of Google. After some research and trails I thought to myself how can I use keywords to rank on page one of a search engine?

First you need to know that there are two different types of keywords; short and long. For example of a short keyword would be "Hawaii property" which is very vague as you can see; but a long keyword would be something like "I am looking for Hawaii beachfront property for sale ". When you use the long keywords you have the ability to cut your competitors dramatically, which results in higher ranking in the search engines.

Here are a few ideas to help you with your keyword search:

Start by logging into Google and type in your keyword search that you want to make content about, put quotes around this keyword so you can see the specifics on this keyword. Check on the right hand side that shows "results", this will show you how many possibilities there are for this title or keyword, you really want to be less than 30,000 or so, again less competition.

Another idea is to use programs like Wordtracker or the Google Keyword research tool to see how many people have searched for that keyword. Keywords that people are searching that are in the ranking of 10-20 per day are great indications you can generate some traffic by using them, if there are less than 30,000 entries. If you click on the top 5 or 6 entries you can read the content and this allows you see firsthand how to use keywords to rank on page one of a search engine.

You can also investigate how people are advertising by using Pay Per Click - while you should not be rude and start going click happy ( as this is costing someone money), a couple will not make anyone lose any sleep. Read their ads, search out their keywords, how are they using them in sentences, also count how many times you read them once you have identified the keywords.

While I like to be informative and provide quality content, there may be those who would like to see what keywords I used to rank on page one of a search engine. I would ask that you either directly contact me for the content site or if you have some questions on how to use some keywords I would love to hear from you.
