I used to be so confident because I have a good antivirus software installed on my PC. It made me think that browsing and downloading stuffs from the internet will always be safe because I will be alerted whenever threats are encountered. I never thought that there are problems that can't be fixed by it.
The Internet Search Redirect Virus got into my system without my knowledge. It was hard for me to avoid it before I have knowledge about it. I just noticed one day that my homepage was changed into a suspicious website and my search bar is no longer functioning properly.
Each search I make would take me to places that contain too much affiliate links; moreover, every time I try to leave, pop ups would appear. Attempting to close these pop ups would only result to more pop ups coming out.
I suspect I got this virus from a free download site where I get songs and videos for my iPhone. After getting this problem fixed, I never used those freeware anymore; instead, I go to official sites and get my downloads from them. I no longer care if they have fees. These fees are minimal anyway and it appears that I will be saving more money compared to having my PC fixed and even losing some of my files. The incident of not meeting my deadline because of an unreliable browser would hurt even more.
The Google Search Redirect Virus can be removed manually. You will need to delete some files and edit your Windows registry; however, you must not attempt to do this if you're not a computer expert or has advanced knowledge on this matter. Instead, get a good spyware and malware remover from a trustworthy site. Purchasing such product usually comes with instructions on how you can remove the infection completely from your system.
