subject: Working As A Production Operative [print this page] There are a number of different jobs available within the manufacturing and production industry, but unfortunately through the recent years the rise of companies moving their businesses abroad have led to several manufacturers closing down reducing the number of jobs available.
The manufacturing and production industry includes companies that are producing goods on a mass production scale, including foods, clothes, cars and other electrical goods. The production operative role is probably the most popular role that is advertised on the job market and production industry. The production operative duty is to work on the production line, ensuring products are appropriately packed and secured and that the quality of the products are kept in conjunction with the company and EU standards. The production operative will handle high volumes of products and goods within the plant; therefore the role can be repetitive and would require the person to be able to work within this environment.
Due to the health and safety requirements within all manufacturing and production plants, the production operative would need to be able to comply and work according to the companys policies. Apart from working on the production line and ensuring the goods are kept in-line with the company standards, the production operative will also need to ensure they keep the work place clean, tidy and safe to work in. Any faults with any of the machinery can result in loss of production which in turn will cost the company money and time, regular check up of machinery is therefore necessary as well as replaced to prevent loss of production.
There are no skills, qualifications nor experience required to work as a production operative as training is usually given. Some companies however may require the person to have previous production experience or experience working within a manufacturing environment. There are a number of shifts including night and day as the plants operate 24 hours a day, finding and applying for these jobs are also easy as plenty of them can be found on the internet. It is a role which can be repetitive but there are lots of benefits available as well as progression opportunities.
