Do you ever feel that you when playing Mafia Wars you exhaust every avenue available in the game but still fall short of leveling? Meanwhile you see people flying by you and cannot figure out how they do it as it seems mathematically impossible. I am sure you have seen the level 10,000 players and wonder how many years they have been playing or assume they are cheating or perhaps they used some sort of hack.
I can tell you as one of the top ranked players, currently at level 8,500 which I have achieved in less than 9 months that yes; there are cheats and hacks for Mafia Wars but solid game-play strategy has been the key to my success. Here are just a few key strategies or tricks that you can implement to see immediate results in your game.
1. Get Double Top Mafia Bonuses
Did you know you can receive both bonuses of being a Mastermind and Wheelman? If the answer is no then you just stumbled onto what I consider the best Mafia Wars trick for leveling. Many are unaware that you can receive both the Mastermind bonus (job payout equals 1.5 the normal experience) and the Wheelman bonus (jobs cost zero energy to complete) often you can receive both at the same time resulting in getting paid out 1.5 times the job experience while costing you zero energy.
To qualify as a Wheelman your class needs to be set to Fearless but you cannot qualify as a Mastermind while having the class set to Fearless and the reverse is true that you cannot qualify as a Wheelman when being any other class other than Fearless. However, you remain grandfathered in people's Top Mafia despite your class changes. It only takes being one person's Mastermind or Wheelman to get the bonus, so if you have a friend willing to use you or have an additional account, change your class in the Marketplace for 15 reward points to either Fearless or Maniac, set yourself accordingly into whichever position you are not receiving a bonus for and it is that simple, you will now receive double bonuses. You can always change your class back after getting into the needed Top Mafia slot if you prefer.
2. Use the Right Tools
Familiarizing yourself with the many tools available are key in many tasks, in others they are just extremely handy and save time. Most importantly if you are not familiar with ratios you really need to be or else you are just guessing as to whether you will level up or not. Your ratio equals your experience required to level divided by your remaining energy (note this does not take into account your Top Mafia bonuses which is your way to lower this ratio to a point where you are able to level).
So one tool that is a must have is the experience to energy ratio tool which shows your current ratio needed to level as well as what ratio a particular job pays, from this you are able to determine if a particular job pays high enough for you to level up while doing. This tool as well as countless others are scattered throughout the web by many different contributors but the majority of everything you need can be found at Spockholm Tools for free, just familiarize yourself with all that is offered, click through all of the tabs including their beta, experimental and external links to see all the tools available to you most likely the majority of tools that will interest you and are most relevant will be found on the experimental and external tabs. You will be amazed at some of what you find and how you ever lived without them. Click here for their home page Spockholm Bookmarks.
3. Get the Best Return
By Far the greatest return is using stamina for Robbing, both New York and Cuba give good returns, typically a ratio of 2.27 (your experience received divided by the stamina or energy expended). When stamina is spent you will now see what ratio is required to level. Ideally you are able to continuously level, if this is the case you now do your highest paying job which can be found a number of ways. One very useful multi-purpose tool for the more advanced players is the OGP Tool Suite another free tool which has a ton of functions and many of the tools found at Spockholm combined into one and has become a staple to my strategy. Once loaded, click "show job payout" you will see all the ratios paid out on a list of available jobs including whether the job requires a consumable. Once you have done your highest paying job enough times to get your ratio low enough to ensure that you will level, that is when you do other jobs needed to be done. This strategy requires you be at a certain point in game-play to level without waiting, which can be very early on depending on your skill points and where you have spent them. If you haven't completed District 5 in Vegas that is great! Do not and I cannot emphasize this enough, do not complete District 5 beyond silver mastery. By doing this you will have access to 2 jobs one of which pays a ratio of 2.14 with a consumable and one that pays 2.10 which requires no consumable. Completing this beyond silver mastery drops your ratios down to under 2.0 and is not worth the achievement. All other districts can be completed in full without losing any high paying jobs.
4. Put Tools into Practice
Now that you have access to all the tools out there that you will need you can use them in a number of ways to get past hurdles that get most players stuck. Mafia Wars Boss Fights and getting money for new cities are now no longer a problem. You can search through Spockholm mentioned earlier and use the Boss Fighter tools available to automate the process of attacking, healing without running away and attacking again. It may take a while but this process will repeat until beaten, making any Mafia Wars boss fight easy. Another tool you want to utilize for cash that is need is the tool called "Brawler" found again at Spockholm. Set this tool to only fight a mafia size you are confident you can beat, fight only live targets, attack only if money from same city, bank at whatever money you specify as you will be counter attacked and lastly set the minimum dollar amount to $2,000 and it will only attack people on the fight list that are within the threshold you specified and only do follow-up attacks on those you are getting $2,000 or more from. Before you know it you will have millions in any given city.
5. Put Fighting into Perspective
My last tip is about how to distribute your skill points. Many focus on attack and defense, but think about what happens when you get attacked, well you die, so what? You need to ask what it is you want to achieve in the game. If it is more important to win every fight even if you have to wait for hours in between levels for energy and stamina to regenerate since you are unable to level continuously or would you rather be able to consistently play the game with no down time between levels. Did you know that the loot gained in fights are not actually dropped or lost from the person being attacked? Many people think that when they get a loot-drop in a fight that it fell from the other person's inventory. That is not true at all and your inventory will never change from being attacked, so all that happens is you die which I do not notice or care when attacked because it has no effect on my strategy. The majority of your character's strength will come from your full mafia and then it is based on your loot and is much easier to increase your strength from loot rather than from actual skill points. So loot is by far the best way to strengthen up, if you buy loot or are looking for a reliable place, one reputable site I know of that is cheap and reliable is Mafia Loot List. I would suggest putting 60-70 percent of skill points into energy and the remaining into stamina from here on out, if you have been pouring it into energy it is a good idea to work on getting your stamina up due to the benefit of the high return. If you buy skill points from the marketplace stop immediately. You can get 6 stamina or energy points by paying 12 reward points to craft over and over in your Chop Shop and Weapon Depot.
Good luck and by utilizing the Mafia Wars Tips just laid out for you and implementing them into your game-play you will most certainly succeed.
