subject: How To Get Reliable Computer Repair [print this page]

Even a brand new computer can have problemsEven a brand new computer can have problems. And as luck will have it, these problems will occur at the worst possible time. Whether you are getting ready for an important business trip or trying to print off last minute wedding invitations, you need to find a way to get some computer repair - services fast.

Of course, if you've ever actually begged someone to hurry up and fix your computer, you were probably very unhappy with the shoddy results. There's no hurrying when it comes to computer repair. Speed can often make problems worse, or cause more than what you had.

Depending on what really happens, it might be an easy fix no matter how dire the situation appears. A hardware problem is usually easier to tackle than a software issue. Keyboards, monitors, memory boards and drives can be replaced more often than not. However, software glitches can be expensive and time consuming, without a real guarantee as to how long it will take or what the outcome will be.

But what happens when your computer is spewing nastygrams to you on your screen, with letters and numbers and codes that even Bill Gates couldn't identify? It's a software issue, and probably a nasty one. If you have a virus or a worm, you could be looking at a few days of just diagnostics and registry repair work.

This is the perfect answer to situations where you find that you have to get a new hard drive installed, or even have your computer restored to factory settings. Even the best computer tech in the industry can't bring your computer to the way you had after it has a complete breakdown.

Use a reputable tech support group that is certified and qualified to work on your particular computer. If you're running Windows 7 and you're talking to someone wearing an "Apple Rocks" tshirt while talking on an iPhone, you're in the wrong place. Get to your closest big box retailer and have them point you to their in house tech dept.

Try to stay away from tiny shops unless you get an explicit recommendation from a satisfied customer whom you know well. Stick with places that have only certified technicians with plenty of experience. Most large places even offer guarantees on their work.

Most places offer in home services as well, and even though they cost more, it could well be worth the extra money for you.
