We drove several hundred miles to visit friends out of state, and I was the one who did the most time behind the wheel. Even though we broke the driving up over two days, it was still a little stressful. If we were to do it all over again, I would start out earlier in the day and try to do it all in one shot; at least that part of it would be over and we would have saved a lot of money on hotel rooms. The only way I would want to reconsider on that is if there was a day spa at the hotel. I have seen a few of them on the way to places, and I think it's about time I put some of their services to use. With a little online research, I can see who has the best ratings and make my decision from there.
I have never actually been to a day spa before, but they look absolutely wonderful. To be able to relax with either a deep tissue or shiatsu massage, or even better, with both a deep tissue and shiatsu massage, and then spend the next couple of hours receiving those wraps and hot rock treatments would make stopping overnight worth while in my opinion. Instead, I usually only get a lumpy bed, some overpriced room service food, and a few lousy television channels. It really is time to upgrade my experience while on the road, and so this next time around, I am going to give it some careful and serious consideration.
My cousin lives in the Village in New York, and I hear that there is this Manhattan massage spa that is out of this world. I haven't seen her for quite a while, so I may just drop her a line and see what we can arrange. I'll let her know that we need to work a spa visit into the itinerary, and maybe, sometime between seeing the Statue of Liberty and the latest local live band, we can slip off and spend some time under the righteous care of a licensed spa technician. It would be well worth it to me, and I think she would probably enjoy it as well. She always has been the kind who likes to be pampered, and this might be just the time and place to do it.
