Knowing about the various functioning parts of a dometic refrigerator often helps in two things. When there is a problem, it helps you diagnose what could be the real issue. Secondly, depending on the part which is malfunctioning you could guess the cost of getting the refrigerator repaired. Here are some of the most critical dometic refrigerator parts.
Thermostat
This is the temperature control device and hence, one of the most important parts inside. It has a round knob inside a compartment which can be changed based on your preferences from medium cool to ultra cool and so on. The main function of the thermostat is to cut off the electric supply to the compressor to ensure that the cooling doesn't happen below the point of your preference. This is restored once the temperature starts rising above your selected level. In short, it is a regulator for the environment inside the refrigerator.
Evaporator
It is also known as the freezer or chiller and the sensor of the thermostat is connected to this. The refrigerant enters the evaporator at a very low temperature and pressure. It then sucks the temperature from the item which has to be cooled. The evaporator in a dometic refrigerator is comprised of plates or copper turns or even aluminium tubing. The refrigerant sucks the heat evaporates and is sucked by the compressor.
Compressor
Located at the bottom and back of the refrigerator this component sucks out the refrigerant which absorbs the heat from the items inside the refrigerator. It then discharges the refrigerant which is at high pressure and temperature. This is a continuous cycle where the heat from the items inside the refrigerator, are constantly cooled.
Condenser
This is nicely finned on the back of refrigerator with a lot of surface area so that the refrigerant at high temperature is cooled down in contact with the atmospheric air as quickly as possible.
Refrigerant
This is the another important component, which as discussed flows through all the main parts of the refrigerator and basically acts like a fluid that keeps sucking out the heat depending upon the temperature chosen by the user. The refrigerant is constantly circulated and keeps emitting heat out to the atmosphere.
Capillary
This completes the cycle in a way. This is because the refrigerant enters this expansion mechanism in dometic refrigerators due to which its temperature and pressure drop down drastically and is ready for a new cycle of heat absorption.
