The Effective Online Communication: Internet Marketing Tips

Hey guys! How's your online biz comin' along? If you're having problems, it may be because you're getting too "computerized."

Let me explain. The computer is now a mundane, everyday device that can be likened to our cups, plates and forks. This isn't to say that it's in anyway dispensable. On the contrary, without computers, we wouldn't be able to do what we love to do- do business online.

But let's face it. With the advent of technology, communication has taken on a more impersonal tone. You may not notice this. When you write your own blogs, create your articles and craft your online ads yourself, it's difficult to detect that you're beginning to sound like an automaton. But that impersonal tone you set might well be the reason why your emails remain unopened, why your ads are not converting for you and why your blogs remain unread.

Effective online communication hinges on addressing your target audience on a person-to-person level. You've got to make them feel that they're talking to someone with real flesh and blood and not just reading some automatically-generated message. That's why blogs where Internet marketers take the time to talk about their daily routine, mention their families and the everyday things they do garner such a huge following. Posting pictures or videos all the more clinch it.

And your emails? Before you send them, try to read them as if you're not the sender but the recipient. Would the subject line compel you to open it, delete it or classify it as spam? Better yet, have someone else read it for you and give you feedback. If it's not personal enough, revise it.

As for inquiries received, far too many marketers do not take the time to answer, thinking that the free newsletters they send will take care of any inquiries. Dead wrong. What's the f****ing point of putting an "Email us" option in your website if you won't take the time to answer inquiries in the first place?

Technology might make our work faster and our lives more convenient. But, it also has the danger of making our online communications impersonal and ineffective.

Don't commit that mistake.
