One of the reasons that small business owners do not make money online with a website is because they either do not have a niche or target market to aim for, or simply do not have the expertise in place to create the type of flow of income they need.
For example:
- Some start a website but do not advertise to get traffic.
- Others have poor content on their site, which does not attract prospects, and do nothing to attract them.
- Also there are those who create a Google AdWords Campaign, with a few ads but poor quality, making it difficult to get clicks to their site
- Others try to optimize their site for good ranking in search engines, but do it wrong.
Obviously, if to all the above, we add to the awkwardness of not knowing who are their services or products meant for, (they don't have a distinct market niche), the largest fall of the decisions of the majority of new entrepreneurs on the Internet, which is to start selling a product or service before investigating who they are and where are their potential customers.
The most important way to sell online is to have a niche. This means you have a specific group of people who to sell your products or services. You can do this in many ways, including the selection of a specific service sector in a particular geographical location or locations by selecting more specific demographics.
What happens when you do not have a place where to offer your products? Then you do not only lose the focus, as to where your company or product is, but also do not know how to market your product. For example, if you try to optimize your site for search engines, and do not know how to find the right keywords to attract visitors to your site, you will make people interested in your products never to find you, or the products or services you're offering.
By not focusing on what your niche is you will not be able to provide the right kind of content. And that can hurt your business because you won't be able to find allies willing to exchange links with you. This is important for the popularity of blogs. This is what search engines use to rank your site.
By not having a niche or focus, you will find more business competitors.
As you can see, having a niche is very important if you want to grow and prosper online. Having a niche does exactly the opposite of not having it. This includes:
- Know the right keywords to put on your websites for search engines to give it a higher pagerank, so people can find it.
- Your website will be better adjusted, will be more attractive to customers.
- You will find allies willing to exchange links with you and your site will be more focused and with a niche market to work.
- And if you advertise in Google, you'll find that your AdWords campaign works much better.
The question is: Do you have a niche market? Are you selling to a niche market? If getting qualified customers to your website becomes a struggle, I can almost guarantee that it's because you're not working on a specific market niche.
The sky is the limit to what you can do when finding a niche and filling it.
