Refuse to Let Your Ex Be the One That Got Away

Breakups are a devastating time for both parties involved. Crushed dreams and the emotional wreckage are the casualties of war. But if you refuse to let your ex go because you truly believe that you were meant to be together, that they are your soul mate, there are things you can do to mend your relationship.

Give Your Ex Time and Space

When a relationship ends, it's easy to feel buried in hurt feelings, and you may take desperate measures to win your ex back. Calling and begging your ex to reconsider the decision they've made to end your relationship is probably the first thing you will do. That's perfectly natural, but if you've done this for a couple of days and have gotten no response, stop. You are only hurting yourself. Give your ex the time and space they need to be able to think clearly and logically about your relationship.

Fix Yourself

Instead of drowning yourself in a sea of self pity, take this time to improve yourself both mentally and physically. Work from the outside in. Get a facial, go to the gym, get a makeover. By working on your outward appearance first, you will start to feel better about the way you look, so that you can then do an honest self assessment. Change what you feel needs changing, break some bad habits, learn some good habits. Learn from your mistakes, and strive to be a better you.

Keep In Touch

Although time and space is probably what your ex wants right now, don't give them too much space. After a week or so, send your ex a text message or an email asking how they are and/or if they would like to meet up for lunch or something. Just be sure to keep your text or email light, friendly, and short.

Go Out On Your First Date

If your ex does consent to meet up with you, treat it like it's your first date. Make sure you look your best, and be on your best behaviour. Do not discuss your breakup, keep the conversation friendly and fun. Do not put any pressure on your ex. This will help your ex relax when they are around you, and get them in the mood to start thinking "we" again.
