Women, Dating and Facebook - James Kinloch's tips

It seems to be the case that social media's role in ourworldhas noboundaries. Most women are seen to check Facebook even before they get to the bathroom in the morning!

It is clear that social media has changed the very way we get dates, meet and connect with people.

Great to see if we like the guy?

It is a great way, let's be honest, to remind ourselves of the person we met at the bar/club/pub. It is a way in which we can also see how popular that person is, their likes and their dislikes. Number one though is you can see if you have a good feeling about that person...Oh, and see what your mates think of him!

Then, if we are now dating him, how can we keep check?

Accordingto the study49% of women think it's fine to keep check on a partner by being able to see his account (with 42% of men thinking in the same way). Perhaps this is fine. Really it is just a digital way of looking over at the bar to see who he is talking to.

Will the newboyfriendlast?

The study by Oxygen Media and Lightspeed Research says that9% of women have broken up their relationships via Facebook. Is this a good thing? Well, itsOKas long as youdon'tdo that on his wall!

What the experts think?

James Kinloch who works in Creative SEO and New Media and has been credited with some of thedigitalworld'srecentstrategies was not around for interview, or he was checking his Facebook to see if his still has a girlfriend. But he kindly suggested a few top tips from a male's perspective, let's take a look:

1. Check the photo

James says that you must really look at that photo. See what length/style/colour the hair is to see how old the image is. Guys put up the best picture of themselves so be sure to see how new that image is.

2. Check his wall

You really need to see the tone of voice of the people who post on his wall. This is a great way to see what type of guy he is. Check the diction. Do you want to date a guy who can't spell and speaks in TXT speak?

3. Who are his friends?

Have a look at the people he isfriendswith to see what type of a person the man is. You really can get a gauge of the man by the people he isfriendswith (well 60% of them as most are just random adds)

4. Does anything he said make sense?

When you first met the guy, what did he say? Did he try and show off and make things up? Well, check to see if he really does live in Chelsea of with his mum.

Overall you must be careful and diligent with your profile. It is out there so make sure that you are careful who you "add" and have connected to you.54% of 18-24 year old women do not trust Facebook with their private information.

Facebook is an amazing tool so use it well and happy dating! Respect people and theirprivacyand never use Facebook for ill gain.
