The most eagerly awaited mobile phone of the year has arrived in the form of the iPhone 4.
A combination of modern looks and suberb features make this an appealing handset to just about everybody. As on previous models, the multi media features on the iPhone 4 are perhaps one of the most instantly appealing factors to the new handset. In terms of music, the phone acts just like the world renowned i Pod. Utilising the excellent iTunes music store, users can transfer their own CD's or purchase music on line from the widest choice currently available. The interface on the phone looks great, displaying cover art in a gorgeous looking carousel style when the phone is held in a horizontal position. You can sort tracks by genre, album, artist or title and the new operating system software now allows you to compose playlists direct from the phone. The 16GB version of the phone should have plenty of capacity for the avarage listeners music collection. A 3.5mm headphone jack is once again included on the phone, meaning a huge range of headphones can be used. Last years 3GS release saw video footage recording incorporated for the first time, the iPhone 4 sees this totally upgraded again, meaning film can now be captured in High Definition quality. Shot at a resolution of 720P and at a rate of 30 frames per second the results are fantastic, however such footage can be a big drain on the phones memory. An improved sensor means that despite the still shot camera being a modest 5 mega pixels, results are great with vivid images with a natural deep black colour.
In addition to the proximity sensor, accelerometer and ambient light sensor found on previous models, the iPhone 4 incorporates a new 3 axis sensor named the Gyroscope. Working alongside the accelerometer chip, it give a much more precise indication to the exact position of the phone, meaning software developers can produce much more realistic games, more along the lines of the Nintendo Wii. The manufacturers have taken the wise decision to incorporate the superb A4 processor chip that powers the impressive iPad. With the RAM capacity also doubled to 512MB, the result is the fastest offering yet, with seamless transition between homescreens and also in the loading of applications. Having looked at the Apple iPhone 4, it is fair to say that this is no run of the mill handset. Everything screams top end, from the eye catching design to the great features, it is hard to find something not to like about this excellent phone.
