My Take on Logo Design

If you are in the market for a logo design for your company, you may find this information helpful. At first blush a logo with gradients and allot of effects seems nice, and most of them are nice to look at but it may not fulfill your long term needs. What I mean to say is when you have a logo created be sure to look down the promotional road a bit; you will want to apply your logo to many different marketing items. You need to know that your logo design could affect your promotional budget, here's how.

1. Screen Printing - Most all Screeners will charge screen charges per color, these charges go between 20 and 50 dollars each. Before you even start talking shirt cost and applying the logos you could have an early cost of 200.00 for a 4 color piece. Gradients forget about screening, and effects just don't get done. Be sure your logo could stand alone on one or two colors and not rely on beeps and whistles.

2. Promotional Items - Most promotional pieces and certainly the ones with the most bang for your buck offer only one color printing, that's not to say you cannot get more than one done, it will just cost you. Charges are similar to screen printing. Gradients, Embossed logos etc, these effects just don't get done.

3. Printed - This is actually the best method to use gradients, shadows, embossed effects, etc and it wouldn't hurt your logo to have it "fancified" with these beeps and whistles maybe for a holiday card or calendar. Printers charge per color which could get costly, but some shops offer full color printing and this allows your artist to dress up an ad and your logo with allot of glimmer and shine.

This article describes my opinion when it comes to logo design, others may feel entirely different.
