subject: The Key To Attaining & Maintaining A Lean Physique May Surprise You! [print this page] On a daily basis we"re inundated by ads for a mind boggling number of different diet plans, supplements, training methods and so-called experts telling us what we need to do if we want to lose weight and stay fit & healthy. The advertising is everywhere "" on TV & radio, in magazines, and of course, all over the net. If you"re overweight and out of shape, but are determined to lose weight and get fit, how are you going to decide what type of nutritional plan you should follow and what type of exercise method or methods will work for you?
Now, don"t misunderstand me. I"m not writing this article for bodybuilders. The methods and strategies that really work to help you get lean, maintain muscle, and look great are the same, whether you"re a bodybuilder or a housewife who wants to lose the fat you gained while you were pregnant. And these methods and strategies are what will help you stay lean & fit throughout your entire life.
Please note that I make reference to losing fat and maintaining muscle. You"ll often see ads for products that are supposed to help you lose weight. However, it"s not weight that we want to lose. We want to lose fat! Is there a difference? Absolutely! And the difference is important. Here"s why.
Many of the diets that are sold as part of the multi-billion dollar diet industry do not actually provide any lasting benefit to the individuals that use them. How many people do you know that have tried one of the latest fad diets, initially lost weight, but within a year or so have gained all of the weight they"ve lost back again. That"s no fun!
Why do so many people get caught on the dieting treadmill? Is it just because most people have no real willpower? No, it isn"t. It"s because many of the fad diets that people get duped into trying are unbalanced when it comes to the types of nutritional strategies that they promote. They often require people to eat a very low amount of calories, which is extremely difficult to maintain for any length of time, or they"re not balanced when it comes to the types of foods that can be eaten while on these diets. The result is what is often referred to as yoyo dieting, where an individual"s weight goes down, then up again, then down again, as she or he goes on and off of these fad or crash type diets.
In addition, many of these so-called diet and fitness gurus are completely tuned out regarding the best type of exercises required to burn fat and maintain muscle. Richard Simmons is one that comes to my mind. For years he has advocated and sold millions of people on aerobics. However, I encourage you to go and take a look at a good photo of Richard Simmons in his workout clothes. You"ll notice that he really lacks muscle tone. For sure, he"s thinner from doing all of those aerobics workouts, but his body is not a fat burning furnace. This is because the exercise method he preaches does not allow his body to maintain muscle, and you shouldn"t be duped into believing that it will. In order for him and any of his disciples to maintain their weight, they must continue to do long, physically exhausting, and potentially harmful aerobics workouts.
However, there is a way that you can workout much less, as little as 20 minutes per day. The method I"m referring to will literally turn your body into a fat burning furnace while allowing you to maintain all of your muscle. You won"t just be losing weight, you"ll be losing FAT! And that"s a key point! The key is not to lose weight, it"s to lose fat and maintain your muscle. Muscle is metabolically active. Muscle burns calories at the rate of about 50 calories per day for each pound of muscle you carry.
On the other hand, fat is not metabolically active, and it"s one of the reasons that long, exhausting aerobics workouts don"t work well. The fat burning effects of a long aerobics workout only last until the workout is over. Scientific research on this subject has proven this to be true.
However, once you"ve learned the secret that will turn your body into a fat burning furnace, your body will continue burning fat for 3 hours or more after you"ve finished your workout. And the additional bonus is that your workouts won"t take more than 30 minutes or so.
I"ve personally used this method and I can tell you that it works wonders. If you would like more information, check it out.
