subject: Accelerated College Programs... [print this page]

Accelerated college programs are academic modules allowing community and adult learners to get credits in fast time. In place of spending the whole semester on a particualr subject (for example, accounting), accelerated learners are able to race through the information in a third of a semester. The program may allow you to participate in and out of the classes based upon your last experience and present schedule.

A lot of universities and colleges provide accelerated programs. But in case you are searching to transfer your independent accelerated credits, then you should contact the universities and colleges where you consider matriculating, plus ask about the the credits' flexibility. There is no standard among universities and colleges as to what outside college credits get accepted.

But if you decide on an accelerated way of learning, then you will need to do much of work out of the classroom. You will have to budget about 15 hours and even more per week to do outside homework as well as catch up on reading. Most universities and colleges which provide accelerated classes expect strong attendance.

In case you miss several classes, you cannot catch up successfully to participate well. The rule is true in terms of accelerated language classes. Ultimately, in case you miss important lessons on vocabulary, syntax, and grammar, you will be at a big disadvantage in your future classes.

Also, you can take the accelerated summer programs so that to compensate for missed classes, primarily opt out of the classes during a regular academic year, or just speed up the time to graduation (thus restricting the sum of tuition that you have to pay).

While applying to accelerated college programs coupled with universities and colleges, you should ask whether the previous credits from your other colleges might transfer as well as whether financial help may be applied to the chosen courses.
