subject: The Advantages Of A Laptop Over A Desktop Computer [print this page]

When the time comes to purchase a computer for your home there are two main choices; the desktop computer of the laptop. Which suits you best very much depends on your circumstances and what you will be using it for.

Both of these machines have certain limitations, and deciding on what your main usage will be will make your decision a lot easier.

In my personal opinion, the laptop is one of the greatest inventions of our time. They are light, portable, have everything that a computer does but without the inconvenience of always being stuck at a desk in the same place using it.

The big thing for me about laptops is that everything is built into the device, so you don't need to find a great expanse of space to fit it into. No need to try and fit in monitors, keyboards etc.

Some people who want to have a home office think that the obvious choice is a desktop; this is not the case at all. When you are in the office just use your laptop in there, keeping it plugged into the mains. It's incredibly easy to attach a printer laptop too, or use one of the new wireless printers where you don't even have to be in the same room.

Todays modern laptops have a great facility which desktops lack; wireless Internet. This basically means that you can access the internet wherever you are with your laptop and not pay for it.

A desktop requires you to go to an ISP, internet Service Provider, and pay for your own connection. These vary vastly in price and depending on where you live; you may not have a particularly fast or reliable connection.

So, we have portability, free internet and also the fact that Laptops are constantly dropping in price. In short; there really is no reason at all to choose a desktop over a laptop. I hope I have helped you make an informed decision.
