Pests in the House

Unfortunately, owning a home comes with its downfalls, and pests are one of them. They are a nuisance and can present potential dangers to you and your family, and unfortunately they occur all too regularly.

There are always local pest control companies that can help. But the most common pests are:

Mice, rats, ants, wasps, bed bugs, feral cats, birds, cockroaches, fleas, flies, foxes, ticks, moles and squirrels.

Rats often come into our homes in search of food and can carry diseases, but are capable of a lot of structural damage o our homes. Mice chew through wires and insulation and build nests that are hard to locate.

Flies might not seem like such a pest but are carriers of diseases, and as they are attracted to food them can spread disease very easily to humans,

Bed bugs are one of the more unpleasant pests that we can get in our homes, and is transmitted through bed linen and clothes. They feed on humans while we sleep, and are really hard to get rid of.

Squirrels, although cute, can often get into loft space and nibble on wiring, which in turn can cause electrical fires.

Ticks are another bad one for our homes, as they live off humans by attaching to the skin and sucking the blood. They can be brought in by our pets, and can potentially cause Lyme Disease.

With any harmful animal, make sure you identify the hazard and get it dealt with as soon as possible. If you don't have Home Insurance, go online now and buy some to protect you and your home.
