It seems a little farfetched, but a psychologist has revealed that statistically there is a most depressing day of the year. The 22nd of January seems to be the day that people are most unhappy, due to an intricate cocktail of time elapsed since the festivities, debt that has been racked up over Christmas, failing New Year's resolutions and low motivation at work in the New Year. Not to mention the horrendous weather!
According to specialists, this translates to the most dangerous day of the year on the roads in the UK. As forty eight percent of drivers experience symptoms of lethargy and depression, which causes loss of concentration.
There are things that you can do to alleviate these symptoms, like doing some exercise. This releases endorphins into the system and will lift your spirits. Or if you don't want to leave the house, watch something funny on the TV to make you laugh. Other suggestions include planning your summer holiday, as it will take your mind off January and to the future, and avoid alcohol as this will depress you further.
Kate Syred, Commercial Director at Privilege Insurance says: "If you know you are somebody that feels down at this time of year, then Monday is likely to be a low point for you. But don't let a bad mood take over, especially when you're on the road - having a car crash certainly won't help improve the situation!"
If you are driving on the 22nd of January or any other day, make sure that you have Cheap Motor Insurance, which can be purchased online.
