I love my digital SLR. We understand because we've been together long, long time. This is a Nikon, is quality. But recently, I dreamed of an upgrade because I do lots of culture. And, like any professional or amateur photographer knows, the digital noise created during increased dramatically as Hi-Rez 6 (sigh) ... pulled megapixels we say "distracted" because the Amazon is a space for families.
Enter Lightroom. This is not Photoshop. It's actually a photo darkroom without any chemical irritants and waiting times. You can make these corrections and adjustments (and more) that you have enjoyed in Photoshop, but much more straightforward. For example, in Photoshop, you can select part of an image, create a new layer, copy and paste the selection into the new layer (or layers), then make adjustments. A little boring. Or perhaps had a better and easier than ever thought could be true. In any case, are not necessary in Lightroom.

The Catalog system is a leap beyond my capabilities products more addictive. So, how to play it, I realize that the problem is more to my sense of organization (the photos of wine bottles, this dog vaccines, vaccines ... whatever) of any problem within Lightroom.
Finally, the upgrade price is good. Lightroom also has three complete edition at a reasonable price (a) what he does and (b) compared to other Adobe products, which are horrible! And when one of the factors that I did not need a new camera is a flight to the race!
At this point I think I'll stay on the other Photoshop (version of Creative Suite) updating, by opting for my purposes to use Photoshop Elements and Lightroom.

Lightroom is maturing!
I got in on Lightroom from the very beginning and have upgraded through each iteration since the original beta.
Lightroom 3 is finally hitting it's stride with most all the features that I'd expected from the start. Adobe has been upgrading features and capabilities slowly but surely and has now even improved overall quality and speed.
It is definitely a program aimed at a demographic of competent hobbyists and professionals although has features for entry-level users as well. The space-saving nature of non-destructive editing is fantastic and the main new features I'm excited about are the built-in tethered shooting option (especially for us Nikon users) and the much improved print layout module.

Import conventions for LR3 are incompatible with LR2
I have about 35,000 images in several catalogs. Uniformly, images are identified with a title
yyyymmdd-s.format. "s" is a sequence number assigned by me, sometimes with a modifier like 5a, 5b.
Format is the usual .jpg, dgn, etc. Formerly, I imported from a scanner folder on my desktop or directly from a flash card (used in a canon). I would direct LR to store the contents in a folder (of my own making like ""2010"). LR2 would then generate a folder in my designated folder (2010) with the format of yyyy-mm-dd for each image taken on a specific day of that month.
LR3 doesn't do this! It creates folders with the format yyyymmdd (not much of a problem). But it does not place pictures corresponding to yyyymmdd into the proper folder. Some would be in one folder, some in another folder. BEWARE. This is a software bug which I spent >3hours discussing with their tech reps: (Satya, Nirmal) both good. Hopefully they will fix the bug soon.
