7 Tips in Coping with Break Ups

Breaking up is one of the hardest emotional hurdles a person has to experience in life, especially for first- timers. It's painful and hard. Sometimes, a person even resorts to inflicting physical pains to himself or someone when he/she is not strong enough to deal with the heartaches. I read somewhere that no one dies with a broken heart but of loneliness and depression.

As we always say, a cure for one may not be effective for another. However, as human beings, everyone has a common denominator when it comes to emotions. Whatever race or culture a person has, however high or low his position in society is, he laughs and cries, and falls in loveand breaks his heart.

Falling in love is the sweetest and the most wonderful feeling a person can experience. Love is a powerful emotion that can inspire a person to do what he hasn't done and to be that person he never expected himself to be. A person in love can be a poet, a singer, etc. in other words, love can make a person do and say and think and feel things that he has never did before in his life.

Now, if this miracle they called love is lost, how would a person react? Think of all the opposites on things that a person can do when he is in love. Yes, the oppositesthe worst.

How then, can a person cope with the break ups? Here are some tips that will "ease up" the heavy heart and eventually, heal a broken heart:

Most people if not all, will go through with first love. It is called first because there is more to come. There are exceptions to this fact but this is the general observation. "First love never dies" they say, but it will fade away when the next love comes along. Keep this in mind so you will not dwell too much in "what if's" after the break up. Every day we meet people, look forward to the day that you meet the real and true love of your life.

Feel the pain. Most people will advise that you have to forget the person, or don't waste your tears in such person, etc. but experts say that feeling the pain is better for the healing process. It's liken to cleansing a wound, the process is painful especially the moment when you were given medication; painful but a must, so that the gangrene won't set in. If the wound is too deep, a scar will show after it healedlike the heart, broken heart will mend but it won't be forgotten.

Find something that is always makes you happy. Singing, reading, going out with friends, these things will make you realize there is still a world out there where your friends and family still exist.

Write down your feelings. Jotting down your thoughts and emotions are your therapists in disguise. Writing down what's inside is a way of easing out the heaviness of your heart. Try it. You will realize that there is that untapped writer or poet in you. Most poets write beautiful and poignant works when they're down.

Share your feelings to your best friend. Some people's best friends are their parents, or a favorite sibling or a trusted friend. Sharing whatever lessens the weight of a burden.

Be positive. Think positive, act positive and the end-result will be positive.
