subject: Take Care Of Your Precious Body [print this page] Your body is an incredible machine that does so much that it almost boggles the mind. When you push your body, you are able to do a lot more than you thought was ever possible. Being grateful for the body you have is the best thing you can think about before you go to bed at night. However, bodies do not last forever, as you know. You need to take care of your body and pay special attention to it at all times so that you can live a long and healthy lifestyle without complications when you are young. Here are some great suggestions for really taking care of your body.
Listen to what your body needs from you. There are certain things that your body is going to ask you for-water, vegetables, vitamins, minerals. Your body runs like a perfect machine and it needs certain things to continue to run properly. When you are not giving your body those things that it needs, then you will see that there are problems. You might feel tired, or you might feel hungry. Your body will tell you when you need things. If you cannot tell what is wrong with your body, but you definitely know that you are lacking something, go to a doctor and find out what is wrong. Sometimes they can tell you things like if your iron levels are down or what have you.
Getting enough rest is a key aspect of taking good care of your body. Just like a battery, your body needs to recharge in order to continue functioning. When you sleep, your body shuts down and it is allowed to build up incredible amounts of energy. You need to get enough sleep if you want your body to function properly. In college, that seems impossible, but try your hardest to really make sure that you are giving your body the rest it deserves.
Lastly, you need to be active. Being active doesn't just mean that you want to get skinny. Sometimes skinny people aren't healthy at all. You need to work the body you are in. Your heart and muscles thrive and grown off of exercise and there are so many options out there these days for exercise that there really isn't an excuse not be doing something. There are things like yoga, Pilates, and gyms that allow you to decide what you want to do when you are working out.
