The Nokia 1280 - Calling Simplicity
The Nokia 1280 - Calling Simplicity

With the cell phone market being barraged with mobile phones in all price ranges offering a conundrum of features, it is nice to see phones like the Nokia

1280 which only have the most basic of features and are proud of them. The Nokia 1280 is the latest Nokia cell phone that offers a retro simplicity that is hard to find nowadays.

The design is basic candy, with some quaint curves, and the phone itself comes in three colors. The phone is meant for those who have a rough and tough day. This dandy phone simply rests in pockets and has an anti dust and scratch resistant cover on its body. It's dimensions are 107.2 x 45.1 and 15.3 mm. The weight is around 81 grams and the volume is 62.27 cc. It is one of the few low budget phones that offer changeable covers. The display is black and white, which means that it is one of the most retro phones to ever hit the market in recent years. It has a 96 x 68 pixels display and has Sheet Window technology. It does not have a card support and does not have GPRS, EDGE, 2G, WLAN, Bluetooth, or USB.

The Nokia 1280 works on the S30 platform and supports EGSM 900/1800. Though the phone seems quite old styled, it does offer some management features like a Calendar, Speaking/Alarm clock and multiple phonebooks. It also offers support to SMS, speed dialling for SMS and even distribution lists. It can also send pictures. It can store upto 500 entries in the contacts list and offers logs of dialled, missed and received calls. What is applause worthy that Nokia has been able to implement a radio in such a small and cheap Nokia mobile phone, this makes it a perfect buy for the youth and people looking out for first cell

phones.

The release of this small monster is expected in the 1 quarter of 2010.
