subject: Understanding The Hype Behind The Nikon D90 [print this page]

The Nikon D90 has proven to be one of those cameras that appears to be much more than just a cult favorite. It's hard to understand why such a seemingly small upgrade from the D80 can cause such a big splash, especially for a camera that is selling a lot cheaper than its rivals.

The digital slr camera, the D90, can probably attribute its popularity to the loyal Nikon users that have found more than just satisfaction with its predecessor the D80. Initially thought of as just another camera with minor tweaks, its capabilities have far exceeded expectations.

Unlike its predecessors in the DSLR camera series from Nikon, fro, which it also took quite a few key features, the company decided to put in a few Easter eggs that no one expected to come from such an initially underrated camera. Besides it's obviously borrowed and upgraded ISO, Live View and body features, it now includes HD video recording capabilities, pretty darn amazing for this model.

This useful feature has even gotten a nice word from the New York Times. The NYT's tech columnist David Pogue fell absolutely in love with the high definition of the shots, both for photos and videos, from the Nikon D90.

The things you can do with a camera like this are endless. I suggest playing around with the kit lenses provided first. Those are enough to get stunning photographs out of anything. But if you're feeling a bit more adventurous you can still customize the D90's body to your liking.

The D90 DSLR camera has been doing so well recently that it has gotten so many rave reviews from respected DSLR photography communities. The likes of which are usually reserved for those cameras that are instantly made into classic must-haves for any photography enthusiast.

Probably the easiest to locate is the review from Wired's Jackson Lynch. In the world of photography being entitled to the "World Champion DSLR Title Belt" means more than just having a few nifty novelty features. This means the D90 offers much more than novelty features and is a much more versatile camera for a determined photography hobbyist.

Basically what I really loved about this is the price. It's really cheap for a regular working Joe like me and it did allow me to save quite a sum. I think this is the best choice for a budding photographer, but of course, to each his own. So take a look around before making that investment.

It is incredibly important that you choose a camera that suits your needs before jumping into any purchase. I suggest taking some test shots before actually giving in to the temptation of buying any DSLR camera at all, even one as impressive as the Nikon D90.

I would like to end this by saying that the camera does not make the photographer. The most expensive camera does not necessarily make a great photographer. So always do your research before making a purchase and buy a camera that suits your needs.
