Hey guys! I hope everything is going great on your side of the fence.
To start or not to start. That is the question. Far too often, the beginning of something is the most difficult thing. Heck, it can be such a pain-in-the-neck to get started because of the many stumbling blocks along the way.
Let's say you want to go into Internet marketing. You list your skills, talents, the capital that you need. You then realize that you can make profit out of writing an ebook on first aid treatments for animal and insect bites. But as you begin to read more on the complexities of selling online, you realize that writing is only the beginning. There are website design, ebook layout and advertising considerations to think about. There are surveys and statistics to understand. There are client interests and mindsets to take into account.
As soon as you begin to get overwhelmed with all these things, abandoning the project becomes all too easy. In the face of such daunting tasks, the finish line becomes a ghostly blur. The goal seems unattainable.
With this mindset, you've already lost even before you've begun. And that's such an uncool place to be. Let me tell you this: Every kickass rock star, every billionaire marketer, every success story started their journey by starting. They got to where they are now because they didn't let anything or anyone convince them that something couldn't be done. They simply began.
That ought to be your attitude, too. Man, you've got to just focus on starting. Sure, you need to have an idea as to what you want to accomplish, but when it comes down to the nitty-gritty, you've just got to roll up your sleeves and begin your work. Don't give such a rat's ass on what the outcome will be. Focusing too much on the end can even cause you to quit when you don't have the things you need to start with. Do what you can to get the project offbe creative, resourceful, innovative. The most amazing success stories happen when those behind it had nothing to start with.
Here's a little reminder from the great Henry David Thoreau to get your butt moving: "You must live in the present, launch yourself in every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land, there is no other life but this."
