Hey guys! Hope you're generating lots of ideas this Yuletide. But more important than your ideas, I sure as hell hope you're taking action on them.
Here's one idea that will potentially improve your sales: How about re-engaging those who you've dumped in your inactive list? You know, those people who you constantly send emails to, but who for one reason or another, never seem to get around to opening them? If they do get around to opening your email, they do more than give it a cursory look and delete it right then.
What can you do to resurrect your inactive list?
The most obvious way would be to give them special offers. Entice them with discounts, freebies or free shipping. You can even give them these incentives simply by just letting them change their profile. A lot of inactive subscribers miss out on your emails simply because they don't use that particular email address as often any more. If you can't reach them through their email address but have their mailing address instead, you can try sending your message and your incentives through a postcard. Whatever your bait, make sure that your email design, text and images will compel them to take action.
If you've been sending out emails on weekdays and haven't been getting the response you want, you can also try sending out your emails during weekends. Perhaps they're just too busy to open any other mail other than personal messages from those they knew on weekdays. Whatever the reason, it's worth a shot to experiment with sending it at different days and times.
Create engaging content. Look at the emails you've been sending and see if it's boring and flat. Or simply outdated. Maybe you're still sending email to clients on the importance of taking food supplements (or whatever online business you're engaged in). Your tone is still convincing them to buy these. What if your clients have already bought from you? They have no use for these types of emails anymore. Use your head, man! What they need is more info on the benefits of long-term use of these products. They would appreciate lifestyle-change type of articles and exercises that go along with taking these supplements. Your content has to constantly evolve for it to be interesting.
Your inactive list might not be interested at first. But with the right motivation and kickass content and offers, you're going to have one helluva blast when you get em back.
