As commanders of the dark elements, Warlocks are a powerful and deadly character. Bent on total destruction, Warlocks are a powerful and chaotic character class designed for destruction.

When it comes to buffs, the Warlock is one of the best, being able to improve both their stats and those that surround them. The bulk of the attacks a Warlock has come from their long range spells. These spells are where the Warlock gets all of their immense power from.

Similar to a Hunter, a Warlock has the ability to control a pet. Unlike the Hunter though this pet is not a beast found somewhere in Azeroth, this pet is a demon that the Warlock controls from the other side. Even at level 1 you will be able to summon these dark creatures, who will help you and fight whoever you want them too. As you continue to level you will be exposed to different types of demons who's abilities will grow stronger and stronger as you do. With so many different types of demons, it becomes difficult to master each of their individual traits.

Many healing spells create health from mana, or runic or even energy but Warlocks have a different approach to regenerating their health. They steal it. This is a twofold attack, gaining health for themselves and at the same time making their enemy weak.

Another way the Warlock can gain health is through Healthstones. These are stones that grant immediate health based on how strong the Warlock's powers are. As the Warlock increases their level and their skills, the Healthstones will increase the amount of health that they give back. This tool is especially helpful when you are having difficulty leveling.

With so much power comes a great deal of restrictions. The Warlock class of character may only wear cloth (similar to its Priest counterpart) leaving them with almost no defense against enemy assaults. Because of their range heavy DPS you will find the weapon you hold nearly useless when it comes to a melee attack. The only thing your weapon will do for you is enhance your current stats.

When leveling make sure you are using your demon to attack your targets first, that way they will pay more attention to attacking them on not you. If you use them properly you should have no trouble destroying your enemies from a far. But, do not spread yourself thin because you could easily find yourself swarmed with enemies and there is only so much your demon can do to help you.

As a Warlock you will need to use something called a Soulshard to use many of your spells, make sure you always have enough of them so you can be as powerful as you possibly can be. This by far is the hardest of your tasks as a Warlock. With so many things to manage and pay attention too, it is easy to overlook something. Warlock players must be able to handle multiple situations at a time to be successful.

Out of the three talent builds, you will automatically want to start putting them into Affliction. Affliction speeds up your attack spells and also gives you more mana over time. If you are looking for the best damage numbers, then Affliction will give it to you. There is nothing flashy about this talent build but it definitely gets the job done.

Between the other two talents (Destruction and Demonology) Destruction is the place you will want to put any extra talent points in. Demonology is a close second to the Affliction tree and has a great deal of support for your demon pet. In fact you can even go as far as to turn yourself into a demon. Not a bad second option.

Warlocks can be one of the most deadly characters in World of Warcraft, using the dark and demented side of the universe to their advantage. Utilizing demonic spells and demon pets, the Warlock is no stranger to death and destruction. If you can over look the juggling act and the weak armor, you will love playing as a Warlock.
