Adobe PDF on HP Slate - The Ultimate Tablet

The HP Slate is a tablet computer. Tablets computers are basically when an entire computer system is stuffed into a single, easy to use package. That may sound like a laptop, but tablets have one key difference. Instead of having a dual fold design like a laptop where one side is the keyboard and the other a screen, a tablet is only a screen. This screen is special, however, and that is because it recognizes human touch. A tablet computer is basically a screen that has touch capabilities. Rather than navigating Windows through your mouse and keyboard you're doing it through a single unit known as a touch screen.

Many people will start to think of the problems with only having a touchscreen on the HP Slate. For example, there is no physical keyboard on the free Slate. How is it then do people type up reports or do searches online? The answer here is what's known as a virtual keyboard. The HP Slate comes with built in technology that brings up a virtual keyboard wherever you'd need a real keyboard. A virtual keyboard is when the bottom half of your screen turns into a keyboard display. This makes it so you can type up whatever you need.

Now, let's not kid ourselves here. The HP Slate free, with its' virtual keyboard will never match up with the typing speed of a real physical keyboard. The feedback provided from a real keyboard is essential for fast typing speeds. When we are off on a key, such as in the top corner, we feel it. Our minds then subconsciously move our fingers over so that next type we type that key we will do so in the right spot. With virtual keyboards your hands tend to drift because of the lack of physical feedback. This drifting hand syndrome makes it so the amounts of typos you generate are going to be huge.

The only real way to combat the lack of good typing speeds is to inform you that tablets aren't designed to do the making of a document; rather, they are built to present or read things. For example, with Adobe PDF on HP Slate free you can read all of your pdf files on a very easy to view format. Or, if you have a Word document you need to read for work or class you can do that as well. Even better, the Slate is able to present Power Point presentations.

If you really must use your tablet as a real computer there is a way to do so. The Slate comes built in with both a USB slot and a Bluetooth module. This makes it so you can hook up a keyboard and a mouse. Bluetooth technology is great for those who prefer no wires in their setup. Many different mice and keyboards use Bluetooth technology and will be able to connect with your computer at the same time. With only a single USB port, consider investing in a USB hub so you can expand that single slot into as many as you need.
