For a long time, most people who wanted to learn guitar had to go and get a teacher and pay for lessons. Fortunately, now there is a multitude of books, DVDs, and other learning materials to put you on the path of the proud, self-taught guitarist. Teaching yourself a brand new skill can give you confidence like you've never experienced.

Following these steps will lead you to your goal of becoming an excellent guitar player.

The guitar is not a easy instrument to learn and in the beginning it may seem like an impossible task but you must not give up because if you continue you will get past the difficult parts and be able to play many songs.

Learning the guitar requires a lot of patience and tedious hours of work, if you are a person that never finishes a hard task then this might not be the instrument for you. It takes a lot of hard work to master the guitar but once you have mastered it you will be overjoyed and will want to share your new skill with all your friends.

Many times pain in the fingers will occur, the only suggestion that people give is just to continue on and try to forget the pain. Rock stars have gone through the same pain and have made millions for it.

At the beginning, you'll just learn the child's version of a particular song. That's the melody line that's easy to pick out and easy to sing. However, as you get more experienced, you'll be given more intricate notes and chords to add to the basic tune. Over time you'll be playing the song as you've heard it so many times before. The first time you do that, you'll just be so proud of yourself that you'll want to play it over and over again for anyone who'll listen. You'll be able to play that song whenever you want to and whenever anyone asks, and you can do it in your sleep or blindfolded.

There's just a feeling of pride and accomplishment that warms your heart when you know you've put in the effort and it's paid of. Then you'll know that all the weeks and months of dedication have been worth it because you're now a guitarist, which means you're a true musician.
