Home Air Compressors: Saving the World One Job at a Time

You may have heard about air compressors in commercial settings, but maybe you don't know just how useful they are in residential settings, as well.

Home air compressors are powerful and will make all of your jobs around the house much more enjoyable and quickly completed. They can inflate tires and and toys quickly as well as operate air tools. For around the house use, many people think that inflators and air compressors are about the same, but that's hardly true. Yes, inflators can fill tires, beach balls and sporting goods, it is not exactly fast or powerful. It can take up to 20 minutes to achieve the right pressure in a tire using an inflator. Air compressors have much more speed and power, so they will accomplish your inflating needs much faster, a fact I learned very well one day last year.

I was planning on arriving at work half an hour early to put the finishing touches on a presentation I had to deliver that day. After braving the darkness of the bedroom and introducing my shins to a few very solid acquaintances, managing to find matching socks, and downing a bowl of cereal, I went out to warm up my car. As I was pulling out my ice scraper, I noticed the rear right tire was looking pretty depressed. I examined it a little closer, and it was flatter than an old can of soda. Immediately my mind ran through all the terrible things that would happen if I had to spend half an hour pumping it up; not only would I not be able to finish the presentation, I'd have to run into the office and give it cold. Since I'm the kind of person who needs every word written down in order to actually say anything in front an audience, this was very bad news. Naturally, the though process spiraled down into losing my job, everyone hating me, and the world ending. Then I remembered that my neighbor had an air compressor. I ran next-door, pounded on the front door and promised endless amounts of coffee and neighborly favors if I could just use that compressor right now. Thankfully, he graciously forgave me for interrupting his breakfast and even wheeled the air compressor right over to my driveway. In the few minutes it took to scrape the ice off my windows, my tire was perfectly inflated and ready to go.

I dashed off to work (and even made it thirty-one minutes early), finished the presentation and then gave it without a hitch. The boss loved it, I got a raise, and the world did not end, all thanks to a well-prepared neighbor's home air compressor. Naturally, I went out and bought my own (as well as a fruit basket and some really expensive chocolate for said neighbor). I've never had to use it in such a panicked situation again, but it has come in handy more times than I can count.

First day of summer- enter nieces and nephews who want nothing more than to go swimming in the lake. Of course, swimming in the lake requires a plethora of blow-up whales, rafts and jet-skis. My lungs almost had a heart attack (well, they would have if they were... hearts) at the thought of blowing up all of those toys. And then the beautiful realization, something akin to an extraterrestrial visitation, "I have a home air compressor!" In less than twenty minutes, we were all off to the seaweed and sunshine of the local lake, whales and jet-skies playing in harmony.

In case you haven't been able to tell, I am a big fan of my home air compressor. It seems like whenever a task comes up at home that gives me that depressed pit in my stomach, I remember that my home air compressor can do that quickly and easily. I've even started getting more into DIY kind of things, since air tools are so easy to hook up and use. People now even know what to get me for my birthday and Christmas- more air tools please! I feel as if it's opened an entirely new way of life, and I will never go back to the lung-capacity-enhancing way I lived before.
