To imagine a little bundle of joy wearing a bib saying "I love daddy" as he spits the strained peas at this special daddy's face is something I always imagine when I go to a store to pick up the shower present. I tried to pick up something that will be special to the receiver like a pink dress for a girl. I try to pick out something that every time that put it on the baby they will think of me.
The funniest baby showers I ever went to was about a year ago. We played several games which we were giving game favors. Those game favors were the usual one and they were pacificers, bottle, bottle brushes, and diapers. All the ladies at the party laughed when my grandmother received a package of diapers and with a serious look on her sweet face she said "Sorry, these are way too small for me." We roared with laughter and my dear sweet grandmother turned red. She gave the pregant mother the diapers as an additional present.
We went to open the present next and the first one was a tiny pink dress with a red heart sewed on the front of it. We all "ahh and ooh" except the mother of the baby. I asked her what was wrong and as she blushed she said "We found out the sex of the baby yesterday and it is going to be a boy. I don't think Mitch will let me put this on him." We laughed once more and I knew this will be something the wives tell the husbands when they go home tonight.
The gift giver said "I will take it back to the store and pick up something for a boy. I am sorry about that." As the shower went on more presents were discovered for little girls instead of for little boys. The gift givers all said they were sorry about the mistake and they would exchange the present for something for a little boy.
I love baby showers and hearing the ladies all go "ahh and ooh". Especially, I love going to them to see my friends and to think how special they feel right now. The party has always stuck out in my mind and I enjoy myself as well as my grandmother.
The next time you go to a baby shower is to pick something up that is for both girls and boys. Something that the parents will think of you when they put it on the baby.
