subject: The Nokia N97 Mini Review [print this page]

The Nokia N97 was a very popular smartphone, and so Nokia decided to re-invent it, however they did so with a smaller and lighter body and called it the Nokia N97 mini.

The Nokia N97 mini looks very similar to its big brother, but measures just 113 mm x 52.5 mm x 14.2 mm and weighs only 138 grams. The front of the phone consists of the large 3.2 inch touch screen, which has crystal clear clarity. Nokia have also included an accelerometer built-in which means that the screen will automatically rotate as you turn the phone from a vertical to a horizontal position. Beneath the screen are two touch-sensitive screens for answering and ending a call. Even though the N97 mini has been trimmed down it still has a full qwerty keyboard, which can be accessed by sliding the screen to the side.

There is a 5 mega pixel camera with auto focus, LED flash and Carl Zeiss optics. The advanced camera feature of geotagging is included, which stores the exact location that the picture was taken with the picture to ensure that you always know where you were when you were snapping away. The camera can also take video footage.

There is also a music player that has pretty decent sound quality. Most music formats are supported and Nokia were even kind enough to include the 3.5mm jack for a headphone. Internal memory is 8 GB, but this can be increased using a MicroSD card.

Being the baby brother of the Nokia N97, means that the N97 mini is packed with applications and features. It syncs with facebook so that you can have live status updates for your profile, and your email is easily accessible. There is a document viewer, and internet connectivity is excellent with wifi, 3G and gprs.

Overall, the Nokia N97 mini is a great addition to the Nokia family.
