subject: Herbal Treatments To Relieve Bv Naturally And Quickly [print this page]

While bacterial vaginosis (BV) is usually a mild infection due to vaginal microflora imbalance, its symptoms can be extremely uncomfortable and sometimes embarrassing. Many women who have not been able to achieve complete cure with conventional medicinal treatment, or are not able to tolerate the side effects of antibiotics, are now resorting to herbal remedies for help.

Herbal treatments for BV include using an assortment of herbs that are known to possess antiseptic and immune-enhancing characteristics. The active compounds of those plants are usually found in the leaves, stems, fruits or roots. Below are several commonly used herbs in BV.

1. Garlic

The antibacterial and antifungal qualities of garlic make it one of the best herbal treatments for bacterial infections, such as bacterial vaginosis. You can take oral garlic supplement (e.g. take 1-2 capsules every day until symptoms subside). You could also make a garlic vaginal suppository, by inserting peeled garlic cloves wrapped in gauze into the vagina.

2. Tea tree oil

Tea tree oil is widely known for its antimicrobial properties. You can apply tea tree oil on the vagina by using tea tree oil tampons, douches or suppositories. You can also take a warm sitz bath added with tea tree oil and pure apple cider vinegar. It's one of the natural remedies that have been used to successfully achieve permanent BV relief in many women.

3. Goldenseal

Goldenseal contains a number of biologically active substances, one of which is barbering, known to possess antibacterial and antifungal properties. The compound attacks BV-causing bacteria residing in the vagina. Goldenseal is available in the form of capsules.

4. Tracheal

Tracheal is a traditional herbal remedy used to restore a normal flow of the internal body fluids, as well as to help remove toxins from the body. Tracheal herbal tea can be prepared by brewing one teaspoon of dried tracheal herbs in 1 cup of hot water. Tracheal capsules are also available.
