subject: Doubt You Have Bed Bugs? Here Are Two Signs [print this page]

Bed bugs are itchy, silent predators, and beds are their most common area. They can infect your home without you even knowing it. They are very small & hard to see. The best way to eliminate them is to ask a termite exterminator or pest control company to do it for you.

What are the signs and symptoms you have a bed bug infestation? The following are the 2 most common signs:

1. Bed Bug Rash

The rash starts with an itching sensation. The rash will not be visible but you'll be able to feel the itch. It is itchier than a mosquito bite, and the itch can usually be sensed 1 hour after the bite. In some cases, the rash comes out only after a few days or weeks.

A bed bug rash has a small, round and red bump that looks more swollen than a mosquito rash. In some cases, the rash looks similar to a sequential bite mark. Should you suspect a bed bug rash, examine it for a few days. The rash causes long-term itching for days together. Also, a bed bug rash doesn't heal as fast as mosquito bites. Often, they remain swollen for weeks.

2. Bed Bug Smell

The next tell tale sign is bed bug smell. What odor do they give off?

A place where there's plenty of bed bug infestation has an obnoxious, musty odor that bed bugs release. Under the mattresses & headboard are common places where they can be smelled. If your sofas have cracks, check if they've got bed bug odor. They are also sometimes infested with bed bugs.

If your house is are infested with bed bugs, call pest control experts at once. Afterwards, you should execute pest control measures at home to prevent it from happening again.
