subject: Make Sure Your Outfit Hits The Right Notes [print this page]

Fancy dress parties are great fun and are an interesting change from the usual parties that people tend to throw. After a long week at work a fancy dress party offers you the perfect chance to let your hair down and have some fun. If you want to come as your musical icon then there are plenty of options available with costumes for the major stars such as Elvis and Michael Jackson for the guys and legends such as Madonna and Marilyn Monroe for the ladies.

If you fancy doing the moonwalk in your MJ outfit or strutting your stuff as Marilyn then you need to find the perfect costume and do not forget the accessories which are as important as the costume itself. Other stars from the past such as Freddie Mercury are a great idea and his iconic yellow suit from the Wembley gig that Queen so amazingly did all those years ago is available (obviously not the real thing but the next best thing to it!)

Getting your costume sorted early is always a good idea and if you have set a theme for the party you need to make sure you get your idea heard so that nobody else decides to take it. Setting a theme is important because it gives people something to look for but be careful not to narrow it down too much or else people will be stuck for ideas and then you will naturally have people turning up in the same costume.

Some less popular but still fun costumes to choose are the very memorable outfits of those from the Village People. YMCA will be sung at full voice with actions and when it comes on you and your friends can re-enact the famous dance in style.
