Information Overload - Overwhelmed!
Information Overload - Overwhelmed!

If you haven't heard this phrase, overwhelm, you will soon - because it happens to the majority of new Internet marketers at some time or another. Overwhelm is when you simply have too much to learn - so much so that you feel overwhelmed, frustrated and more confused than before you started looking for help.

It happens easily within this industry because there are so many options available - a bottomless pit of opportunities.

There is article marketing, social marketing, or pay per click, AdSense and more. If you're new, you may not know much about any of the above, and suddenly you're thrust into an environment where everyone's opinions differ but somehow sound the same, what happens next? You don't know where to start!

To take pressure off yourself you have to relax. All of this information you need to digest isn't going anywhere. It's going to be here tonight, next week, and a year from now, remember it's online, so it's easily accessible and you can come back to it at a later date.

Don't invest money and time in every aspect all at once. Like I have said before it's pointless having "all the gear and no idea". One step at a time building your skills and knowledge as you go.

Internet marketing is like a city and you have to choose whether you want to walk, catch a bus, use a tram, a train, a taxi or your car to get across town. When you know the city streets though you don't stay on the main roads during rush hour, you take the back roads that criss-cross their way to where you want to be, not because it is so much quicker but because you are always moving not sitting in traffic only moving when the person in front of you does.

The point is that you're putting that knowledge to work for you. No matter where your starting point is applying what you know to a method of making money gets you on the move and if that is the case you are on the right road.

However, if you have no money for fuel or you can't pay for public transport, walking is what you are left with. But have you ever noticed how much more you can take in as you walk along, from the architecture of the buildings to the cracks in the pavement (sidewalk). You're not going to stop at the first coffee shop you come across when you know that down the road and round the corner is a great little Portuguese place that does the best ground coffee in that area for lowest price.

There's no point looking at the menu if you are not buying, besides the boulangerie down the road is giving away free tasters, what do you prefer mouth watering quiche Lorraine, lovely pain au chocolat or overpriced instant coffee or fried eggs that taste of bacon from the customer before you.

So internet marketing is something like that there are all kinds of people or businesses selling all kinds of things, but not all of them are for you and not all of them are as good as they make out. When you are familiar with your environment it's a lot easier to negotiate through the overwhelm. Do not let anybody convince you that theirs is the only option.
