I love this cd player!
I bought my cd player last November (seven months ago), and it has held up longer than any other cd player I've ever had. I'm so in love with it that I'm thinking of buying another just to have it when mine dies. I've learned to do the buttons in the dark, because I use the cd player to listen to mysteries and other fiction when I can't sleep and don't want to wake up my husband. Because it goes right back to where it left off, I never have to look for my place after I've paused it or turned it off. I probably listen to a cd an average of three hours a day, because I use it when walking, when I can't sleep, and sometimes during household chores. This is my all-time favorite by so much that the others can't even be compared. Thank you Sony for creating this product.

Good little player for audio books
I have been using this player to listen to audio books while I do housework. It is a very good player for this use. I use rechargable batteries and they seem to last quite a while. The only thing I wish it had is a button that will skip forward maybe 10 seconds at a time. If you ever listen to audio books from the library, you know that they occasionally have scratches. If the player could forward just 10 seconds as needed, then you could get past the scratch on the disc while only missing 10 or 20 seconds of the book. Currently, it will only skip to the next book mark which may be up to 5 minutes of the book. I haven't checked any of the other players yet to see if they have a skip ahead feature like I want so I don't know if it exists. Just keep this in mind if you are buying a player to listen to audio books.
Overall, this player works well for me.

As good as it gets
I've had numerous walkmans and this is the best. Yes the battery compartment is in a ridiculous place, and the batteries are hard to get out because the cover doesn't open enough to give you easy access, but everything else is so perfect that it is worth the effort. This is the only player I've had that doesn't skip. It is great for reading books because it starts up just where you left off and the batteries last longer than any other players. So, all in all, it's a winner.

Even after I tinkered with it, it worked.
I got this in the mail and of course I didn't read the instructions. I read the reviews and knew about the battery compartment under the disc holder. But I had to stick my finger on the lens a couple of times and yank it around. Then I found the battery compartment. After all this I put a cd in and it read "no disc". After man-handling it I wasn't surprised. I read the instructions and it mentioned that some new cd's have a copyright protection on them. I took out the new cd and put an older one in. It plays beautifully in spite of me. I am impressed. And since we don't have too many choices anymore I am happy with it. I walk with it in my pocket and it gets bounced around quite a bit but works perfectly.

Just what I wanted
I was looking for a CD player that would pick up where I left off. I listen to audio books when I am walking and was getting frustrated because I could not find a CD player that would pick up in the middle of the CD where I left off. This is perfect and does exactly that. It is easy to use and very light weight.

Basic and functional
My father is an older gentleman who is intimidated by technology. He did not want any bells or whistles on his CD player, just the player. This machine met his criteria. It works well. Absolutely no problems. Do be careful when buying an electical adaptor for it. Not all will fit this product.
