The popularity of activities for children and young people, including a day nursery, parents and toddlers, community club and Kidz Church', led to them being held in a portacabin ahead of the first phase of work to provide more space in 2009.
Now the latest phase of the development will add a modern auditorium to seat 650 guests and accommodate up to 1300 people for Sunday services. It will also create a coffee shop and a welcoming environment for visitors to the church's ministries and community activities, and is due to be completed at the end of August 2010.
In the new auditorium, 75mm of FlexiDry fast drying floor screed is being laid in the F3 - 21 day dry time formula, on top of 75mm Celotex insulation. For main contractors Mansell, FlexiDry floor screed provide the perfect floor solution to meet the drying time requirements of the build programme, being dry enough for the application of floor finishes after just 21 days, compared up to 110 days for standard screeds.
FlexiDry fast drying floor screed is being adopted by an increasing number of contractors and screeding subcontractors for its ability to speed up time-sensitive projects and reduce the carbon footprint of construction. Easily mixed on site, FlexiDry allows following trades to move in sooner; while its increased compressive strength reduces the cement used and enables underfloor heating systems to perform more efficiently.
With the auditorium finished, the Milton Keynes Christian Centre will move onto the final phase of its work on site, refurbishing the hall, community rooms and offices.
