Five Super Cool Backyard Picnicking Tips from PicnicTrend.com

Sometimes the best place to picnic is in your own backyard. Picture thisapple trees, maple trees, flowering bushes and a wide expanse of lawn, a wooden swing situated off to the side amongst flowering hostas and hydrangeas, tiki torches strategically placed and filled with citronella oil to keep away bugs, a hammock waiting for the next occupant, the setting sun and children playing a rowdy game of chase in the warm grass. Ah, summertime has arrived and this fabulous oasis is a snapshot into the backyards of many across the US. The only thing missing is a blanket and a picnic basket filled with delectable treats.

Picnicking is a tradition throughout the summer across all walks and in all cities but we often forget about how fun and relaxing it can be in our own backyards. The big advantage here is no one has to pack the car and gather up the kids and it can be as spontaneous or planned out as you like. Here are a few tips to remember, though, to make it complete.

Grab a blanket. The absolute best blankets are specifically designed for picnicking and offer a nice cushy side to sit on and an opposite side with a waterproof barrier to keep you dry. These are especially great for twilight picnics where star watching is at a premium and the grass gets dewy.

A Basket is a must. It just isreally. And, yes, even in your own backyard. Why? Because nothing says picnic like a basket, plus, it's a lot easier to carry picnic fare to and from the house in a basket. Today's picnic baskets come loaded with cutlery, plates, wine glasses, salt and pepper shakers, napkins, cutting boards, etc. So, they simply make the whole idea of a picnic more glamorous and fun. Baskets are sort of the one-stop-shop of picnicking where all the needed essentials are taken care of which means less worry for you.

Bug spray is right up there as a necessity, in the Big Black Picnic Trend Super Secret Picnic Book. We recommend the natural kind you can find in most health food stores. It's easier on the skin of little ones and kinder to the environment.

Some kind of sun protection is recommended. No we are not doctors but the sun can be pretty intense in the summer months so hats and sunscreen are always a good idea for any outdoor activity.

A garden hose for clean up. This is where it can get fun. Instead of packing hand wipes, just grab the garden hose and start spraying to clean up messy hands. Kids of all ages love this. It's refreshing and has a hint of fun danger to it. After all, who really knows if and when a garden hose will go awry?

Ok, that's it. Our five super easy and super fun backyard picnicking tips. For more information on where to get cool picnic gear and picnic supplies, check out PicnicTrend.com. In the meantime, enjoy the great outdoors and get your picnic on!
