The breathtaking beauty and the magnificent architecture of Goa makes this place an ideal holiday destination. The rich cultural heritage of this state is reflected in its various dance forms. These dances are a reflection of the lives of the local people.

Some popular dance forms of this land are as follows:

Dhalo: It is one of the most popular dances of Goa. Dhalo is mainly prominent in rural parts. In this women of every age group participate by forming a semi circle by joining hands and dancing to the tunes of rural music. It is basically a very fun-filled event.

Dekhni: It is a traditional dance form of those people who were earlier Hindus and later during the Portuguese rule converted to Christian religion. It involves singing traditional songs by the local population. It starts with a beautiful lady and later other dancers also join her. The music of this dance is a mixture of western and Indian genre.

Fugdi: Devoted to Lord Ganesha this dance is very popular between the womenfolk. This is the only dance form which does not require any particular occasion or festival. In this dancers swing away till the time they are completely exhausted.

Kunbi: The earliest settlers of Goa known as Kunbis performed this dance. It is one the oldest traditional dances of this state. It was performed to bring the people of a community together so it does not have a religious importance. The main attraction of this are the colorful dresses of the participants.

Mussol: It was mainly performed by the warrior class of Chandor in the celebration of their victory over Harihar who was the Hindu King of Vijaynagar. It involves the participation of 22 couples and is still an important part of the culture of Goa.
