Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord, my soul to keep. If I should die before I awake, I pray the Lord my soul to take. I learned as a child, reared in a Christian community, how to pray at NIGHT. But somewhere I noticed an interesting fact: I'd never been taught how to pray when I awoke in the morning. So, that I learned on my own. Far too many drag themselves out of bed begrudgingly, or jump out of bed realizing their late! One of the best times of my day is early morning when I first realize I'm conscious: I'm AWAKE! I have been given the start to yet another day. Woo-hoo! Here I am world. When I was more fixed in my religious egoic state, I would threaten the devil and let him know he was going to have to deal with me today. Right! You idiot! What was I thinking? Oh wait, I wasn't thinking. I was just being religious, righteous, and wrong! :-) Generally we have two attitudinal extremes to which we can awake and embrace each morning. Damn, it's another day at the salt mines or another wonderful day of infinite possibilities to which I have some say! There's a 2,500 year old Buddha prayer that summarizes how I get my day started most mornings. May I be in peace.

May my heart remain open.

May I awaken to the light which is my true nature.

May I be healed.

May I be a source of healing for others. There's so much there. It doesn't matter what the WORDS are. The key is that we live a life of LOVING EXPERIENCE! We must BE the LOVE we want from others. It's not about NOUNS but VERBS. Joseph Campbell says, "I don't need great faith, I have great experience." Experience LOVE today by BEING LOVE.About the Author:
