It was difficult to predict the upcoming weather for the winter 2010 in Vancouver knowing what happened year before. Winter 2009 surprised everyone with snow fall, temperature and the duration. Lower Mainland winters were famous from being the mildest and shortest in Canada. Is Vancouver is ready for 2010 winter games? At the time of writing this article we can say 'yes'. But considering a global warming we can say: no one is ready, because no one knows. There was a heavy snow fall in China this Dec, which was something China didn't see for over 60 years! So what we can say? A local man said that there will be snow shortage because there will be Olympic Games in Vancouver. Whether guessed it based on his experience or sheer sarcasm we'll yet to see. As far as we know there is no problem with snow removal. The forecast looks ok. Many snow removal companies are on stand-by with their equipment ready to go any time. It is worth of effort as the bucks are good in this business. After all every one will want to have snow removed from their properties and is ready to pay almost any price. Contrary to snow removal companies, the Vancouver Games Committee stay on alert not only for snow removal for the olympic areas but for snow delivery too. Snow removal or snow delivery? Snow delivery could be a serious issue this year. If the snow does not fall by the end of January 2010, the Vancouver Games Committee will have a problem. Of course it is ready for any weather adversities but considering the complexities on the organizational level we can expect anything. With high expectations, crossing the thumbs, we stand by the games organizers in their effort of providing the smooth and exciting experience despite the snow fall or high or low temperatures. We know for sure that the winter doe snot end until the mid of March so, we have still some time to enjoy the weather and expect the best of it. Snow removal beyond city of Vancouver All of this worries and analysis are of no value for the greater part of the Olympic Games 2010. Whistler is located 150 km North of Vancouver and is a land of snow. Most of the games will take place there. Part of them like ski competition will be done in the Richmond Oval, newly razed recreation-sport hall, a best designed public piece of architecture in 2009 in North America.
