Marketing research and consultancy firm for the automotive industry, AutoPacific, conducted their 10th annual comprehensive study of the youngest car buyers on the market. Gen Y' buyers, or those born since 1983, make up the largest generation since the baby boomers and have a large influence over automotive market trends. Roughly 63 million strong, Gen Y car buyers account for 25% of the new car market. AutoPacific's study strives to help auto manufacturers understand exactly what this segment of consumers is looking for and to identify what these buyers desire in future cars.

AutoPacific's study sampled over 42,000 new car and truck owners and found that Toyota is the number one preferred brand by Gen Y buyers. Research conducted on this generation of car buyers has shown that Gen Y buyers are more willing to accept a hybrid powertrain and are looking for vehicles equipped with the latest entertainment technology.

Toyota is an industry leader in producing sustainable mobility and advanced technology, which is likely why they are the most preferred brand among Gen Y buyers. Toyota holds five of the ten spots on MSN Autos' top ten list of most popular hybrids in America including the Prius at the number one spot.
