subject: Post Engagement Duties That You Must Know In Advance [print this page]

So youve found the woman of your dreams and youve decided to marry her. Finally, youve managed to put that ring on her finger and the both of you are engaged! Now what? Do you just sit around and wait to get married? Of course you dont! As the groom, you have several post engagement duties my man, which also include steadying your nerves from time to time. Grooms are known for getting cold feet last moment!

Decisions, Decisions and More Decisions

Right after the engagement, you need to decide on your entourage, namely, your best man, groomsmen and your ushers! You also need to go shopping. I know it sounds awful, but it is of utmost importance that you choose the attire for the wedding in keeping with the current trends. No, youre not going to be paraded like a model; you just need to look good on what is going to be the most important day of your life!

You also need to purchase thank-you gifts for your wedding party and also pay for the lodging of your wedding party. Also, dont forget to select the present for your future wife. Yeah, seems like all duties involve dishing out lots of money doesnt it?

You also need to compile your own guest list and ensure that your parents have compiled theirs and hand them over to the brides family on time. You dont want to seem ungracious now, do you?

Another important duty of the groom, and in my opinion, the most important duty, in terms of his marriage, is the planning out of the honeymoon. Though nowadays, this is a joint effort, if you decide to stick to tradition, then its the grooms responsibility.

You also need to get hold of a marriage license! The technicalities and the legalities must be taken care of; you dont want to be rudely interrupted on your honeymoon do you? Lastly, it is also the grooms duty to take care of the transport from the ceremony venue to the reception venue.

Oh and did I forget the bachelor party? Im sure you didnt!
