Using sliding glass for a door gives you a chance to see the beauty of the outside view while inside your room. It even gives your room a better lighting and purifying. Meanwhile, a defective sliding glass door can bring both hazard and trouble with the added effort you need to spend just opening and closing it. Even sliding mezzanine doors cared for properly are just too heavy and huge that you could almost not open them. This is mostly seen in traditional coated or double panel styles. Energy efficiency improved, but operation was difficult due to added weight on over stressed rollers.

The best of the sliding porch doors today combine the prime of technology and it is so easy to use. There is something you can do about ill operating sliding glass doors that are bumping and grinding as you open and close them.

The way a glass door works can be likened to a train. Rollers attached to the lower part of the movable complex are made to flow smoothly along its boundary. The track is aluminum, vinyl or stainless steel.

Pull the door toward the middle part and lift it up before pulling it out from the undersurface in order to take the door out of the path. A trestle will definitely be of great help as you stabilize the door while you are working on it. Vacuum the undersurface of the door frame and the track, especially the rollers, with a small nosed attachment to get rid of dirt. You may use a toothbrush that is no longer in use to get into the hard to reach spots.

Completely flush the area with fresh water and totally dry it as well. A tiny air compressor with a spray end is perfect for taking out remnants and drying damp parts after the cleaning process. Take away the grime accumulation on the rollers by soaking them in a solvent for grease.

Keep in mind that harsh solvents could damage plastic rollers. Oil rollers with a greaseless silicone that will keep dirt from accumulating in the future. If the rough motion persists after the lubrication and cleaning, this is an indication for replacement of the rollers. Replacement rollers can be found at most hardware stores or home centers.

A good guide for purchasing the right replacement is to have the brand of the door. To get a spitting image of what you have at home, make sure you brought with you one of your existing rollers. A damaged path or runner is another source of poor door operation.

Even with the best rollers in the world, you do not expect an optimal mechanism if your door is dragging against the surface of the runner. The cap style fits over the existing runner while the damaged runner to be removed and covered by a new plate mounted runner. Attach the sliding portion the same way you detached it.
