subject: Promoting A Website: Little Known Secrets And Techniques [print this page]

Promoting a website, what should you do and what should be avoided? Take some time and write down a clear precise plan of attack along with your goals so that you have something to work for.

How much traffic do you plan on bring to your website. Have things set up so that you know what to do with the traffic that arrives. Do you need to work on getting more quality backlinks to your website? You need long term and short term goals.

Your making a sizeable investment with your website so don't cut out writing down your plan because you think it is something that can be overlooked. The better your written plan is, the better results you will obtain when you start to promote your website. Will one income be replacing another? If so, the more planning you have to do.

Many people ask me about outsourcing the jobs I have to another person. Should I outsource or do all the jobs myself. When you are first starting out you should do all the jobs yourself so that you have a better understanding of what to do. Then when you outsource you'll feel better about the free time you have to do other things. That is why it's good to write everything down. On your check list, put goals and dates next to each task you want to accomplish.

Coming up with the right niche can be hard. You might be well qualified to do one thing, yet you'll set your mind on doing something else. Variety is the spice of life so make sure your keyword list is good. Some people overlook the ability of putting up a blog with good articles on it. Don't do this. Search engines just love blogs and you can put them into your on page and off page optimization plan.

Put some good effort into the article you will be posting on and off of your website. I've seen people put up the worst articles on their Web 2.0 pages. That is considered spam and you can get banned from search engines doing this type of activity.

SEO can be fun and exciting. It's nice to see your website at the top of the search engines. Make sure when you optimize your website that you put up the best content for the user. There's nothing worse then going to a website that is disorganized and full of junk. Don't rank high just for the sake of ranking high. Give the user some added meaning behind what you put up. Make the trip to your website enjoyable. When you promote a website, the person who is finding you through the search engines only care about one thing. That one thing is this; are the users needs being met.
