Plenty of good lighting inside and outside of the house can give an intruder the thought that there could be someone at home. With the lights on, an unexpected burglar may never even think about entering your home for the fear of being seen and reported to the police. Also put lights around the windows and doors, or anywhere that can be used as an entrance to your home. This will give a thief a second thought about breaking and entering.

Cameras are handy to use, and some can be connected through a computer where you can monitor the outside and inside of your property. Be aware though, some camera's can be costly. If you choice not to buy one, then you can install a fake camera to fool the unwelcome guest. You may want to consider having metal bars placed on all the windows and steel security doors for each door in the house.

Another tip would be to use break glass detectors. They're easy to install on to the window. When the glass in the window is broken an alert will sound off. You will be able to hear the alarm from almost anywhere in the house. These devices are inexpensive and it is worth having one on each window of your house. It will improve security in your home.

If you're the kind of person who goes out a lot or you know that you will be gone for a long period of time. It's a good decision to let a few of your neighbors know that you are leaving. You may want to leave a trusted one of them the key to the house. If you're ever leaving for a long time, such as going on a vacation, then it's a good thought to allow a friend or relative to live there until you return home.

With crime still high in society, having some protection for your home has become almost impossible to live without. Give yourself and your family some security by following the simple tips. It's well worth it to have protection for you and your family by having your own home security.
