subject: Natural Acne Treatments And Remedies [print this page]

If scientists can decipher the human genome, why oh why can they not find a treatment for acne?

With no sign of an acne treatment that cures acne on the horizon, it is up to you to deal with the unsightly acne outbreaks. When zits, pimples, spots and acne breakout, there are some over the counter acne treatments that work but there are some natural remedies that work too.

Topical keratolytic acids help relieve mild acne breakouts by breaking down the oily plugs blocking the hair follicles and slough off dead hardened cells on the skins surface. These are basically medicated wipes.

Benzol peroxide in products work by mildly irritating the skin, encouraging an increased removal of dead skin cells as well as suppressing bacteria.

Some more natural acne treatments include the following:

At the first sign of a pimple apply an ice cube in a piece of plastic wrap to the area at least twice a day this will help with inflammation.

Apply a drop of tea tree oil to blemishes three times a day to discourage infection and speed up skin repair.

Apply vinegar or lemon juice to pimples using a cotton wool ball because the acids in in lemon juice and all vinegars flush out the pores.

Toothpaste smeared on an outbreak before bed is also reputed to work well.

Aloe Vera is also a great acne treatment. One study showed that 90percent of skin sores were completely healed with aloe vera within five days.

Applying live natural yoghurt to the skin helps sooth and heal particularly after a camomile steam bath has opened up the sebaceous glands.

It is a great idea to try some natural remedies at home first. One of them may just be the answer to clearing up your acne. although often medicated treatments or medications will help in the long run, it is always a great idea to try the natural remedies first.

Getting a pimple every now and again is not a major issue, but if your blemishes do not respond to over the counter treatments within three months or your skin becomes severely inflamed or painful, and large fluid filled lumps appear, then it is a good idea to seek medical advice. If your skin becomes red and flushed, it may be the beginning of Rosacea so it is advisable to always seek medical advice
