However if you procrastinate too much and wait till 15 to 29 days before the trip you will only get back half of the ticket price. Passports
If you are planning to take a cruise you might want to think about getting a passport. If you are on a closed loop cruise (leave and returning at the same United States port), then you will just need proof of citizenship. Although, if you happen to leave and arrive in the same place all you would need to do is show proof of citizenship with a birth certificate or state identification. Although, if what you have an older ARC card that does not expire you should get a new card first. However, if you have an older ARC without an expiration date, you might want to look into applying for a new card before you sail so you will not be detained for any reason.
