subject: How To Master Your Click-through Rates
[print this page] There are some people that are so obsessed with their click-through rate. They think that if it is bad, their campaign is a failure. The bottom line is this people. It's about making the most money that you can while spending the least. That's it.
I will even put the price in the ad. Even if it is $97. People will ask me, why do you put the price up there, right away before they even click? Don't you get less people to click on your ads?
Do I get less clicks by doing this? Probably, but the reason that I do it is because I don't want freebie seekers clicking on my ad. If they aren't willing to pay money for my product, then I don't want them. They are just wasting my money by clicking on my ad.
I have had a click-through rate of 25% and lost money on the campaign. I have also had a campaign that had a click-through rate of .02% and it was a very profitable campaign.
If the keywords are getting tons of searches and you want to rank lower because you don't want to pay as much per-click, well more power to you. You don't have to be in places 1 - 3 or even 4 - 6 to make a killing.
Every keyword phrase is different.
That is why you have to test and you have to see what the optimal position is for your ad. You may have a better looking ad than everyone else, if you do, you may want to pay less per click and let your ad go down a ways.
That is why your ad is so important, but your click-through rate may not be so important. Maybe you want to be at the bottom and you might not get a very high click-through rate, but you don't want to pay the high price by being high on that keyword phrase.
