subject: Potassium-based Water Purification System [print this page]

Is using potassium as water softening really expensive? Because only a few water purification systems are sold. The immense effect of potassium to solve hard water issues has been known by many homeowners. The reason why potassium is less used in water purification is because companies themselves want to earn big on their profits. But for the consumer's perspective, it is best if the system unit that we buy has the capability to purify and soften hard water. This will save much money and it also conserves space rather than having two units with different processes.

Hard water effects are not really good to our household and even to our bodies. It damages our water pipes and leaves scales that may cause blockages or erodes pipes. It also makes our showers unclean because of its slimy after-effects. It can also dry out our skin and will make you end up spending some dimes on lotions and moisturizing soaps. When bathing with hard water, it is noticeable as you will see soap residues on your skin after bath. These are the reasons why we need to soften hard water for any use at home or for our body.

If hard water did not pass through an ionization process, it is for sure will contain high amount of lead which is quite fatal or damaging to the body. That is why you need to either use potassium or salt in hard water to replace lead and to keep away ions to form. Because often times, when you take a bath, the pores of your skin open giving chances for ions to fill in. Now, imagine what would be the damaging effect if lead is not taken out from hard water?

Studies show that on the average, American men have a higher intake of potassium than women who only have about half of the recommended daily serving. So this means that the more lead content be reduced in water by replacing it with Potassium. It is a mineral that is needed for everyone although not all get enough valuable intakes of such. The more potassium water softener is recommended for daily drinking.

You can't simply rely on water softener to say that your drinking water is safe enough. The taste it gives from water softener might taste even worse than tap water. It is like bathing with spring water but missing the safe effect if you have a filter to remove contaminants present in it. The idea of water purification system with potassium must be in your mind now. You don't need to buy two more units for cooling and heating. You can have only one and that is through a potassium water softener system.
